Rochdale's Under 18 side were beaten 3-1 at Tranmere on Saturday but coach Chris Beech was happier with their performance.

" We controlled the first half with the wind behind us but didn't capitalise on our opportunities to score. In the 2nd half we struggled with the conditions but a referee's error changed the game when we conceded from a free kick that had been wrongly awarded"
" In general this was a much improved from the previous week in terms of performances, attitudes, preparation and commitment. The actual outcome of the game was probably affected by the conditions and by a refereeing decision. The work rate and balance of play meant that we would have deserved at least a draw."
" Alex Skidmore who is with us again on work experience from Blackburn Rovers gave a high quality display and Raphale Evans continued his recent good form with another strong showing at the back"l
