At the start of what wasn't a very good weekend for the club Rochdale's Under 18's failed to progress in the Puma Youth Alliance Cup losing 3-1 at Burnley on Saturday morning.

Chris Beech  was very unhappy with the performance and pulled no punches in his summary

" We made a very poor start individually and collectively and I was forced into making 2 changes very early because of poor individual showings. We do go in front through a goal from Under 16' striker Dennis Sherriff but in truth leading at half time was aginst the run of play"

" After the break it was exactly the same, well below the standards that we set and we went on to lose"

" We had trained hard all week and prepared well but this was a performance that will not be tolerated. We suurendered what was a very good chance to go on and win this competition but the players attitudes and performances where at a level not associated with professional football. The sqaud as a whole had made progress since July but with the exception of Raphale Evans who was head and shoulders above everyone else this was a "revert to type" performance
