David joined Rochdale in the January Transfer Window from Conference side Morecambe, where he made his way up through the ranks and become well known to his then teammate and now manager Keith Hill. A left-back who is also very at home in the centre of midfield, David represented the England non-league side and had been tipped to make the step up to league football for a while.
"Perks"made an impressive debut from the bench in his side 5-0 thumping of MK Dons and following a long term injury to skipper Gary Jones he filled the central midfield berth with some terrifc high octane that performances that earned him almost cult like status from the fans.
After a first full pre-season at League level much is expected of him in the coming year and in September 2007 he signed an extension to his contract that will keep him at the club until 2009.
