With the ink still damp of the myriad pieces of paper that he had just signed Jon Shaw spoke to us very eloquently about his move to Dale and how much he is looking forward to being part of a promotion chasing side.

" It is very unfortunate for the fans and the people that are running the club when you look at the situation that Halifax Town now find themselves in. Obviously it was no better for the players after we had fought and scrapped against relegation so its a horrid situation as I say and with no disrespect it is nice to be away from it. People have realised over the last few years that The Conference is a better League than some might think - the teams that come up don't go straight back down and those that go down aren't a certainty to get straight back up. It's a hard League so to get 20 goals as I did makes it a good season for me. Now hopefully I can make the most of it and go on from here."

" Before that I had a good spell at Burton Albion and that is a great little club that is trying it's hardest to make strides and go forward. When I first went there I scored a lot of goals but then started to be used as a utility player in midfield or centre half and the goals dried up. Chris Wilder came in and took a chance on me for Halifax and it worked for both of us."

" I can tell you that this club hasn't had to do a hard sell on me after the performances last year and nearly getting promoted. They had a fantastic season and it is great for me to come to a club that is looking to get promotion to division one. Its a great boost for myself and hopefully I can come in and do myself and the Conference proud. I am looking forward to a season of success."

"There will be a at least one familiar face when I meet the rest of the team as I know Rory McArdle from our time at Hillsborough. He is a bit younger than me but we always got on really well and it is fantastic to see him doing so well away from Wednesday."
