How important therefore will be the highly debatable penalty on the stroke of half time that saw Dale go in at the break level after their visitors had clearly dominated?
Buoyed by their somewhat fortunate equaliser Keith Hill's young side played some smashing stuff in the 2nd half with Alfie Le Fondre completing his hat trick and skipper Gary Jones blasting home his 50th goal for the club.
No one could have foreseen such a comfortable win in the opening 44 minutes as Accrington bossed the game but only had Shaun Walley's 30th minute goal to show for their dominance.
With the last attack of the half Jones burst into the box and went down under a challenge from Jay Harris. Referee Taylor had no doubts and pointed to the spot.

All the pressure in the world was heaped onto Adam le Fondre's shoulders but he calmy rifled the ball home and Dale had a get out of jail free card.

The second half was reminiscent of last season as Dale put behind them their home woes and simply ran Accrington ragged.
Super Gary Jones blasted home the second after a great run by Dave Perkins on 48 minutes.

Le Fondre headed home a terrific Chris Basham cross on 65 minutes

and completed his hat trick with a clever finish to a flowing move on 83 minutes.
That was so much better.
Next stop Meadow Lane.
