Dale needed to win after a week's inactivity as other teams were in County Cup competitions and their decision not to enter the cup and concentrate on the league has in the main paid off.

The visitors Salford are near the bottom of the league but recently beat Curon 2-1 to reach the County Cup Final.

Dale began brightly enough spraying the ball around and in complete control.
Katie Wood started the move for Dale's first goal finding Nat Liggett at right back, Liggett put a great ball through to Siobhan McElhinney and a deflected shot made way for a Rachael Wood corner Steph Bell who has been missing injured for most of the season rose the highest to head home for Dale.

Now Dale's flowing football was making life hard for Salford and Lisa Wood's runs down the right wing looked dangerous as a cross from Lisa Wood hit an oncoming Salford defender and ended up in the Salford's net 2 nil to Dale, Good chances went astray from Dale as the score could have been 5 nil at the break.

Again Dale started well but as the game neared its final stages Salford piled on the pressure and Dale retreated further back to protect their 2 nil advantage but with stout defending from Dale's back four they restricted Salford to half chances though they did pull  one goal back with just seconds on the clock.
