We are looking for a victory tomorrow but we can't repeat often enough how fortunate we have been this season with respect to nurturing this squad. I won't bring any pressure to these lads I just want them to succeed by showing what they are capable of doing individually and collectively. That's all that I am going to ask because they have given myself and the club everything that they possibly can this season. There is no failure because we have come such a long way in a short period of time.The foundations of this club have grown enormously over the 16 months that we have been together and that is really encouraging with respect to next season.
We are more than capable there is no question about that but I want the players to perform to the best of their ability tactically, technically and physically. There is not an awful lot myself, Dave and the coaching staff can do now. We know what Darlington are going to do, we know what they possess. They have an experienced side, an experienced manager and have one of the best budgets within our league.We are a total contrast in that we are built on nurturing young players and giving them experience and tomorrow is all part of that.
The main work has been done it is just a question now of how do we get over that line? I wish that I could but I can't do it for them. I wish that I could put the shirt on because I was buzzing up at Darlington and so was Dave but it is about the players.I know that they will have learned so much from the experience of the first leg and the realisation that it is after all only a football match and they are very good players. They do want to achieve but that can get in the way sometimes. All you have to do is relax and play football.
Today (Friday) we are just going to have a fun day and it is not difficult with respect to preparing for Darlington because we only played them 7 days ago.We know what they are about and what shape they are likely to have and we know what we need to do.Today will be low key and enjoyable. We will then have a bit of lunch together before staying as a group in a local hotel overnight and travel to the match together.
