Even if it had been one all we would have had to score to win the tie and now we have to score to level it. We need to try to get control of the game as early as we can but goals can be scored in the 90th minute and we often score late so what we need is for the fans to be fully behind us but for them to be patient.
If we can get an early goal it will change the complexion of the whole tie but whatever way things happen there has to be an understanding from the fans that we have got 95 minutes to score a goal. We know that the fans will want an early goal but if we don't get one we need them to stick with us. It will be all guns blazing from everybody in Team Rochdale because we all want to win this football match.
We have been working on things in training to make sure that we keep the back door firmly shut because it is important that we do not concede. The back 5 has done well all season long and there are plenty of goals in this team from everywhere. For a variety of reasons we haven't had a 25 goal striker this season as a lot of promotion sides have but we have a lot of players who can get on the score sheet.
We wouldn't expect Darlington to come here and be over expansive. All season long they have been very rigid and focussed in what they have done and up to Christmas they kept a lot of clean sheets and looked a strong unit. Saturday will be no different. They will come here and put a wall up so it is up to us to get through it over it or round it. Whatever we do we have to breach it and that has been what we have worked hard on all week long.
The players are ready for it now. At Bury there was a fantastic atmosphere and at Darlington though it was a big stadium our fans filled it with noise so here with everyone boxed in it will be rocking. They did freeze a little in the first half last weekend but in the second half the shackles came off and they really came out of the blocks, which is the way it will be from minute one on Saturday.
