We had a great training day on Monday and the lads are really focussed and geared up. The majority of footballers are now in Magaluf so it is a sacrifice but a worthy one. The players have got a lot to play for and have assured me that they are up for it. Being up for it doesn't mean that they are going to react in the right manner and we have got to make sure that we don't bring any pressure to them and not an awful lot will change in respect to how we prepare.
It is just another game but it is high pressure. Our away form has been good all season long and we have done well in the League with respect to the 46 games that we have played. There is a lot of confidence as we approach the game but no arrogance and we are in good form having lost just once in our final twelve games.
You are in the lap of the Footballing Gods in the Play Off's and we have to make sure that we don't under react or over react to situations that might develop up at Darlington. We have a very young squad and though there is a real determination to win there isn't a lot of know how when it comes to approaching this type of game. This is a 3 hour cup tie and that is how we are going to play it. We want to win, there is no doubt, and I have told the lads that they might not get this opportunity again. If we put everything in and fail we can look at ourselves with pride. There is a lot to be gained by this football squad with the squad that we have assembled whether it is this season or next. We do not want that gain just to be monetary we want it to be achievements like getting promoted.
As I say we are not bringing any pressure because the players have got to play with no fear and with no negativity. I have not got any major concerns because they have done it all season for me. We are very confident but focussed. It will be treated like any other game and if there is an opportunity to win the game at Darlington then we want s to take it, we are not going there to defend. We always want to score goals and we haven't been involved in too many games where we haven't. Our ethos and philosophy has always been to attack and to play with no fear and we don't see any reason why that should change.
Darlington will be will prepared by Dave Penney and they have very good footballers in their ranks and I expected them to finish in the top 3 so perhaps they have under achieved. We are capable of beating anyone especially if you look at the fact that we have beaten the champions MK Dons home and away, the only team do that this season.
My players do want to achieve and do want to go to Wembley but I want doesn't always get.
