Keith on Thursday

We will approach the game professionally, as we always do. We have got a good squad and there will be one or two so called "squad players" involved. Last weekend Wycombe made 6 changes to their previous starting eleven and during the week Jim Gannon's Stockport team was a complete contrast to what it normally is in terms of shape, formation and personnel. He also made 3 substitutions before half time, 2 because of little niggling injuries and Ryan Lowe came off because he had been booked. We have got to protect the lads with respect to what we want to achieve and we can't make any mistakes. I need to go into the Play Off's with what I consider to be my strongest side.
Rene Howe's initial deal runs out on Saturday but we have had confirmation from Peterborough United that they will extend his deal and he obviously wants to stay. He has scored the goals and played the games and it would be a tragedy if he wasn't to stay with us for the remaining games.
The Chris Basham situation is crazy. His deal cannot be extended beyond 93 days which means that we can have him up to and including the 10th May which co-incides with the first of the Play Off games. He has done exceptionally well since he has been here and I really feel for him.
Lewis Montrose has had to go back to Wigan with an injury which he picked up in training. He hasn't had his opportunity because of the outstanding run of form that the team has been on. He won't be fit and available for the Play Off's so his loan deal won't be being extended.
It has been a long hard season and it has taken it's toll on people. it has been a great learning experience and what we have achieved is absolutely superb. We have had so many up's and very few downs. From a personal level though it has taken a lot out of me and the reason is that myself and Dave Flitcroft want everything to be perfect. We drive each other on to strive for perfection. It takes it's toll physically, mentally and with respect to family life. We put a lot into this and we don't intend stopping now.
Everyone should celebrate on Saturday because we have achieved so much with such a young squad. We are pleased but if you stop, stand still and consider yourself happy then you get lost and I don't ever want to get lost. I fully want to be as good a manager and coach as I possibly can be for Rochdale Football Club and for myself. The players all work extremely hard as do everyone in and around the club so everyone associated with Rochdale should be proud of what we have achieved this season . There is still much to achieve though and not many teams have that opportunity.
